The things that are happening in your brain, in your day, in your weeks, in your months, in your years, are stopping you from getting where you really want to go. A lot of people think that it’s tactics, but I wanted to discuss another component. If you feel like you need a tune-up mentally, or emotionally, or spiritually, keep reading.
In business, there are ups and downs, and the key for people to actually grow their businesses - is to get rid of the “downs”, not just to hit “ups” again and again. It’s totally normal to have downs, that’s okay, but it’s not okay if you don’t fix it. It’s even worse if you don’t recognize it.
At its very core, business is about going from where you are to achieving business growth - that’s the journey that you’re on. There are a certain amount of activities that you need to do to achieve that business growth: you need to get sales, you need to book demos or calls, you need to get leads that convert into calls, and if you’re not getting any of those things, you need to fix your mindset.
I’ll tell you right now that if you’re under 30k a month, you need to fix your mindset. If you’re over 30k a month, you probably still have to fix your mindset. If you’re at 1 million a month, you probably still have to fix your mindset.
Mindset is the key component in you being successful or not.
When you started the month or week, you had goals that you wanted to achieve. Whether you hit them or not comes down to mindset. For the number of sales you wanted to hit: Did you hit that goal? Are you on track to hit that goal for sales? Yes or no? If you didn’t get enough sales this week: How many sales calls did you have? How many demos did you have? Did you hit that goal? Yes or no? If you didn’t get enough sales calls this week: How many leads did you get? How many messages did you send out? How many times did you promote? Did you do it enough to get those demos? Yes or no?
If the answer is no, something’s going on in your head, and you need to fix what’s going on in your head.
So take a second, take a deep breath, and let’s dive in.
When you’re approaching business, when you’re approaching these activities for business growth, you will get stuck in one of two mindsets. If you’re not getting the sales you need to get, but you are getting enough sales calls - then you are probably focusing on your money versus their lives. If you’re wondering: ‘why didn’t this person close, why couldn’t I convince them, why couldn’t I get the money?’ You’re in the wrong place.
If you’re getting a lot of leads but not enough demos you’re probably thinking about your product versus their success. On the calls that convert into demos, you’re thinking about your product, and you, and your business, not their success.
If you’re in the market, but you’re not getting enough leads, you’re probably thinking about your problems and not their problems. You’re thinking about your personal problems and not what your market is going through on a daily basis.
If your mindset is off, then you’re probably thinking about yourself and you’re not thinking about them. You’re focusing on you and not focusing on the people in your market - the people that you built this business to help, the people that you want to serve for the next 10, 20, 30 years.
You’ve probably noticed a pattern here.
The people that succeed are focusing on their market’s success, their problems, their lives, and them - not themselves and their own problems, and their own product, and their own money.
There are a lot of skills you can learn in copywriting, in marketing, in sales, in business building, and all of these things, but still not succeed. I’ve seen people that learn nothing in those categories still become really successful because they’re focused on other people.
When you want to fix your mindset, you need to stop thinking internally and start thinking externally. You need to bring your field of vision outside of yourself, and that’s how you build a field of vision for success.
The key to business growth is easing other people’s pain.
As you learn to stop suffering in your own head and go from internal to external, you’re going to be able to do so for other people. That’s what marketing, that’s what sales, that’s what business really is, easing other people's pain. The outcomes that they get from your business start at the decision level. They make a decision to not suffer anymore.
If you’re stuck and suffering inside your own head, then decide to look outside.
